A Silent Voice ( Koe No Katachi) is a school drama based on the manga of same name by Yoshitoki Ōima. This movie has shown the bullying can take different form than just a simple teasing and can entirely affect the person related to it. Not only the person having being bullied suffers but its side effect’s aren’t something only limited to just the victim.

Synopsis-

The story revolves around Shoya Ishida, a former delinquent who bullied Shoko Nishimiya, his deaf classmate, alongside his friends back when he was in elementary school. He used to have fun bullying others. After being continuous bullied by Ishida, Nishimiya transfers to another school. Everyone blames Ishida for his actions and as a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak to and no plans for the future. One who used to bully others was now bullied by his own friend. He was outcasted by his classmates and even ignored to the extent. He realizes that his behavior towards Nishimiya wasn’t fair and feel guilty for that. But it was too late for him to apologies to her since she had already left the school.

He becomes traumatized by his own friends to the extent that he even tries to commit suicide. But he gets the light of hope when he meets Nishimiya again in high school. He thinks of this as a chance to rectify all his mistakes done in past and apologize properly to her this time.

Both of them go through a series of life changing events to define friendship and love. Ishida manages to move forward and leave behind the past, and to start afresh by showing his affection towards Nishimiya.

This is all about his path to redemption.

Verdict-

The story is like  a roller coaster of emotions, some easy to emphasis with, and others made easy to resonate with! The plot starts vigorously but with a pace you could easily keep up with. And it has a perfect climax which is sure i don’t wanna spoil here by mentioning about it.It’s satisfying i’d say. The music is also good and pleases ears. Kyoto animation is known for it’s high class animation and it proved itself once again what it’s known for. Animation is very detailed and colorful which is really amazing as the story is also so emotional. It’s 2016’s best anime movie after ‘kimi no nawa’.

Makato shinkai also praised the movie by saying it’s a “fantastic piece of work” and a “polished and grand production” which even he is unable to replicate. And these words from a director who gave best anime movie ever “kimi no nawa” means alot, if you know what i mean.

I think i have nothing to say now, just go and watch it. It’s more than worth your time.
